Outpatient

We offer consultation to outpatients who are in CKD Stages 2-5, as well evaluation of proteinuria, hematuria, & glucosuria.  Typically patients with a urine protein that exceeds 200mg/24hr need nephrology referral.  Any patient with GFR<60mL/min deserves nephrology referral.  As the only Hypertensive Specialists in the Brookhaven area, we are qualified to handle severe hypertension, secondary hypertension, & renal artery stenosis.  We quantitate urine proteinuria as well as treat it very aggressively to decrease risk of CKD progression.  We also prepare pre-ESRD patients for dialysis by referring them for an arteriovenous fistula(AVF) placement.  We also treat comorbidities associated with CKD, such as hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, metabolic acidosis, & anemia.

Inpatient

We evaluate inpatients with acute glomerulonephritis, acute kidney injury(acute renal failure), oliguria/anuria, obstructive uropathy, etc.  We also manage electrolyte abnormalities, such as hypo/hypernatremia, hypo/hyperkalemia, metabolic acidosis/alkalosis, azotemia, hypo/hypermagnesemia.  We are trained to perform acute inpatient dialysis, acute continuous veno-venous hemodialysis(CVVHD),

& acute peritoneal dialysis.
